Our founding attorney, Edwin Black, began his career with the senior citizen division of the Legal Aid Society. In this job, he learned all of the issues confronting senior citizens and all of the tools — the laws, regulations and court rulings — that could be used to help them solve problems like protecting financial resources and preventing fraud.
Black & Black was formed in February 1991 by Edwin F. Black and Bronwyn M. Black. Since that time we have been joined by Gregory A. Black. Our law firm is truly a family affair. For the last 17 years, we have continued to obtain the best possible results for our clients.
As long as there has been Medicaid planning, Black & Black has been practicing law in this area. Medicaid planning as we know it today started with a major overhaul of the law in 1989. Guardianship laws also changed around that time. The guardianship laws we have in New York today were first created in 1991. Black & Black was there at the very beginning. Our elder law attorneys were there before other lawyers had ever taken these cases to court.
