Bronwyn M. Black is a partner in the law firm of Black and Black located in Melville, New York which concentrates its practice in the areas of Elder Law, Trusts and Estates, Guardianships, Medicaid and Nursing Home Issues and Will contests. Prior to entering private practice she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office. She graduated cum laude from Fairfield University and earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law.

She is a former Director of the Suffolk County Bar Association, and a trustee of the Suffolk County Academy of Law, the educational arm of the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ms Black is the coordinator of the Office of Court of Administration approved Guardian Training Program, the Court Evaluator Training Program, Supplemental Needs Trustee Program and Counsel for the Alleged Incapacitated Program for the Suffolk County Bar Association. Ms. Black is a former Chair of the Surrogate's Court Committee. She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association.

She has lectured for a number of professional organizations including the Suffolk Academy of Law, the Bar Association of the City of New York and the New York State Bar Association on various Elder law issues including Supplemental Needs Trusts and Guardianships. Additionally, she has advised many attorneys as to the establishment and use of Supplemental Needs Trust and guardianships.

The law firm of Black and Black represented the disabled litigant in the case of Link v. the Town of Smithtown and Ms. Black argued this matter before the New York State Court of Appeals. This case was one of the first cases regarding the use of Supplemental Needs Trust subsequent to the passage of the legislation authorizing the use of same for the disabled.

Ms. Black presently serves as a fiduciary in numerous matters including trustee for several trusts as well as court appointed Guardianships. Over the years of practice Ms. Black has served in many capacities including, Court Evaluator, counsel to the incapacitated, guardian, conservator, as well as guardian ad litem in Suffolk, Nassau and Manhattan. Additionally she has represented many trustees and guardians as well as family members of the disabled or incapacitated persons.

Ms. Black serves as Trustee for Adults Living in the Community, Inc. an organization committed to encouraging and facilitating the development of community residential alternatives for persons with developmental disabilities.
